GATEWAYS TRANSPORTATION INITIATIVE

Vision Statement of Transportation Initiative
Gateways Comprehensive Employment System

Rural transportation is essential for economic development in West Virginia. We envision a transportation system that gets more people to work, to play, to healthcare, and to purchase goods and services that keep all of our communities vibrant. Businesses increase their productivity, citizens live vibrant lives involved in activities that fuel their purchasing power and our state's economy. We see effective solutions to support the connection of all West Virginians to communities in all 55 counties.

Transportation moves people to healthcare, to education and training, to work, to recreation, and to worship. All these facets of living contribute to a healthy, better educated, productive community and workforce. Technology helps people with disabilities join their communities in work and economic activities. More people spend money on groceries, dining, supplies, and the leisure industry. The transportation provider also gets increased ridership, and technology tools can enable the maximum reimbursement and efficient mileage so the transportation industry flourishes.

Utilizing regional solutions, we will expand stakeholders' involvement in developing transportation and coordination resources. This is complete and sustainable economics.
